HISTORY OF THIS AIRLINE
– TAP Air Portugal was the first European airline to operate completely using jets, beginning in 1976.
– From 1946 until 1964, the airline took nearly 20 years to carry one million passengers. To no surprise, their first transatlantic route
was a connection between Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro, which began service in 1960.
– In 1979, the airline changed its name from Transportes Aéreos Portugueses to TAP Air Portugal in order to make it more internationally
recognized and to distance itself from colonialism.
– TAP developed its own museum dedicated to the airline’s history to commemorate their 40th anniversary. It is still open to the public, and it has
extended to include other elements of the aviation business besides TAP Air Portugal. It’s called Museu do Air and it’s located in Sintra, a lovely town.
– TAP Air only flies Airbus planes. Nonetheless, several of its subsidiaries fly various types of planes.

1.Star Alliance
The Alliance now offers seven fare options, including Africa Airpass, Asia Airpass, China Airpass, Europe Airpass, North America Airpass,
Circle Pacific Fare, and Round the World Fare, following the most recent reformulation with the addition of Asia Airpass.
–Airpasses
– Customers can use Star Alliance Airpasses to travel within a specific geographic region on flights operated by the various Star Alliance airlines.
Fares are calculated using flight vouchers and provide a better price/quality ratio than purchasing individual tickets for the same routes.
Airpasses can be purchased in coexistence with any international round-trip ticket on a Star Alliance member airline for their travel in the region they want.
Passengers can choose from a variety of places to construct a custom circular itinerary. When passengers have the option of purchasing First, Business
or Economy Class fares, the fee is computed depending on the total distance travelled and the class used.
It is required that all journeys begin and terminate in the same country.
–Round the World Fares
– Star Alliance will continue to provide its popular Round the World Fare, which allows travelers to travel around the world by using the full Star
Alliance network.
This fare product provides reasonable costs when compared to single point-to-point tickets, with levels established according to the distance and
class used. Passengers can choose between three mileage levels: 29,000, 34,000, or 39,000 miles.
Travel in Economy, Business, or First Class is included in the fare.
The tickets are good for a year and allow for three to fifteen stopovers. In addition, a special deal for the Round the World Fare is now available
which includes a maximum of 26,000 miles and between.

The rate is only valid for Economy Class travel and must be purchased seven days in advance of departure.
–Book and Fly with the Star Alliance
– Passengers can arrange their Round the World and Circle Pacific vacations from the comfort of their own homes, 24 hours a day,
365 days a year, using Star Alliance’s “Book & Fly” online booking service.
Electronic tickets are issued instantly and bookings can be made from anywhere in the world.
The booking system is offered in three different languages: English, German, and Japanese.

Air Portugal Clean&Safe
For all Air Portugal passengers (including any Portuguese residents/citizens) that are flying from countries that are not members of the EU, are not
Schengen Area countries, or are flying from the UK or Canada, it is compulsory to show proof of COVID-19 RT PCR testing with a negative
result which is done within the first 72 hours of departure.
Upon failure of compliance, they will be denied boarding.
Domestic Travel During COVID-19
–Physical distancing at the airport
– Physical distancing is required at the airport, and during boarding. Check in beforehand online or on the Air Portugal app to
avoid contact.
–Wear face coverings
– Face coverings or masks are a necessity. The airlines also have face masks available.
–Food and beverages onboard
– You are requested to continue wearing a face mask or covering while not drinking water/consuming food.
–Air and ground cleanliness
– The airlines ensure to clean high touch surfaces regularly, along with the aircraft, airports and lounges. Hand sanitizer is also available readily.

IN CASE OF LOST OR DAMAGED BAGGAGE...
WHEN LOST:

This service is only available on Air Portugal flights and Air Portugal Express flights. You can also report missing luggage at the baggage claim area’s Lost
and Found offices.
Most airlines utilize a computerized search system to enter the specifics of missing luggage items. The success rate is 95%, and the majority of baggage is
delivered within 48 hours of the loss being reported.
If Air Portugal is unable to locate your luggage within 72 hours, you will be required to provide a more detailed description of its look and contents, as well as
fill out a baggage inventory form. This document must be submitted within 5 days after the loss of your baggage.
WHEN DAMAGED:
Air Portugal advises you to double-check your luggage/baggage before you leave the airport.
If any missing or damaged items are there, please notify the authorities right away.
You can do so at the airport itself at the Lost and Found counters near the baggage carousels, where your complaint will be written and a report will be
formed, and they will provide you with the details. Kindly keep this paper safe and secure till the time the matter is not resolved.
However, before you file a claim for your luggage/baggage being damaged, kindly keep in mind that all baggage that is checked-in experiences some typical
damage that is unavoidable while handling and during transit through airport facilities.
Due to the above, Air Portugal cannot be held responsible for menial or small damages like the following:
–Minor scratches, traces of dirt, minor rips or dents, zipper being damaged, missing parts that are removable or detachable
–Any damage caused by excess luggage or ill-packed luggage
–Any damage to items that were not transportable
SERVICES FOR THE ELDERLY
When the elderly customers might need a little extra assistance, Air Portugal comes to the rescue. If and/or when needed, the airlines provide a wheelchair
that is available for use in-between the check-in and for boarding the aircraft.
In big international airports, this is extra handy and useful, as many customers sometimes have to walk long distances from the
check-in counter to the departure lounges.
It is advised to request for this service while making your booking. They also provide the possibility of selecting one’s own seat via their Seat select options.
The seat maps give a blueprint-like layout of the aircraft and the details of all the seats.
CHILDREN TRAVELLING ALONE- WHAT TO KNOW
*IMPORTANT: As of the 22nd of January, Air Portugal is only accepting reservations for unaccompanied minors on direct Air Portugal flights.
The conditions for approval differ depending on the age of the child. They are:
–Unaccompanied minors under the age of five are not permitted on Air Portugal.
–Under the age of two, minors must always be accompanied by an adult. Their adult partner must be at least 18 years old and capable of looking after
the minor child during the entire trip, including check-in and border and customs formalities.
–Because the regulations for “unaccompanied minor” apply to both, minors aged 2 to 4 years (inclusive) may be accompanied by another traveller aged
12 to 15 years.
–A traveller aged 16 or older can travel with a kid aged 5 to 11, as long as he or she is declared the minor’s companion for the duration of the trip, including
acceptance, check-in, and navigating airport formalities.
–Unaccompanied Minors are passengers who are between the ages of 5 and 11 and are travelling alone.
–At the request of their parents or legal guardians, they may be registered as Unaccompanied Minors when they are between the ages of 12 and 17
(inclusive).
–An unattended minor child who flies in a different cabin class than the adult is also considered;
–Reservations on the waiting list are not accepted;
–TAP must be informed of the name and contact information (phone number and address) of the individuals who will be taking the child to the airport and
collecting him or her up on arrival when an Unaccompanied Minor reservation is booked and confirmed.
–When there is a night stop on the planes linking the child’s itinerary, the “Unaccompanied Minors” (UMNR) service is not accessible.
TRAVELING WITH PETS? HERE’S EVERYTHING YOU NEED
Make a reservation for your pet’s ticket.
Air Portugal’s pet carriage service is limited by:
–The amount of room on the plane.
–According to the class you’re flying in and the type of aircraft you’re flying.
–To the entry of pets into the destination country
–To the animal’s species, as well as the animal’s and container’s combined weight
–Animal’s age – it must be at least 10 weeks old.
When requesting this service, you must submit the following information to see if it is possible to reserve a ticket for your pet on your flight, where it will be
carried, and the cost.
–Breed of dog/cat (Only dogs and cats are permitted to enter the cabin.
All other animals are transported in the hold. Depending on availability, each traveller can carry one or more containers with one or more animals of the same
species.)
–Total weight of your pet and the container together size and kind of container
–It can be carried in the cabin if the overall weight is less than 8kg. Animals and containers weighing more than that are transported in the hold.
NEED A REFUND OR CANCELLATION?
You can cancel a reservation without charge if you do so within 24 hours of making the reservation and more than 7 days before the trip.
If requested within 24 hours of the booking and more than 7 days before the journey, full refunds are possible. The initial payment will be refunded in the
same form and currency as the refund.
If a refund is requested within 24 hours after making the reservation, but after the original flight has left, the ticket conditions will apply (no-show).
It is possible for changes and cancellations to occur.
The conditions for adjustments and cancellations (with the exception of the above-mentioned dates) will be varying, depending on the circumstances
of the fares.
Changes and cancellations are subject to route-specific rules, which may differ based on the particular route that you want to change.
Some rates may also have fines for modifications or cancellations, as well as being non-refundable and/or not allowing changes.

before completing your purchase.
When applying for a refund through the FLY TAP website, there are no fees that will charged. If you request a refund through the Contact Centre or a sales
desk, you will be charged a service fee of USD 40 per ticket, even regardless of the tariff.
