UPDATES- WHAT’S NEW IN IBERIA?
1.CELEBRATING 75TH ANNIVERSARY
In September, Iberia celebrated their 75th anniversary of its flights to Latin America, its main market and the focus of its whole strategy in recent years,
establishing a true bridge between Europe and Latin America and positioning Madrid as the key entrance point from Latin America to the old world.
On September 22, 1946, an Iberia DC-4 took out from Madrid’s Barajas airport heading for Buenos Aires, marking one of the first scheduled flights
between Europe and Latin America. Madrid-Villa Cisneros-Natal-Montevideo-Buenos Aires was the inaugural flight’s route.
It took 36 hours to complete the route, including stopovers. Since then, Iberia has maintained a steady presence in Latin America, demonstrating
its dedication in both good and bad times.
