ALASKA AIRLINES CHECK-IN AND BOARDING PASS TIPS

Alaska Air Check-In is hassle-free and easy and they offer various forms of Check-In so that passengers feel free to use any according to their own best convenience. The different forms of Check-In provided by Alaska Air are:

Check-in online or web check-in

Online Check-In or Web Check-In can allow passengers to complete their check-in facilities hassle free from the comforts of their home. With this process passengers can skip lines and check-ins at the airport and head straight to the boarding gate after their security check.

  • Check-Ins online or through the web can be done by passengers anytime between 1 to 24 hours before the flight’s scheduled departure.
  • Passengers can print their own boarding pass and arrive at the airport.
  • If passengers have checked baggage to carry, they can easily use a credit or a debit card to pay for them online and later simply submit the luggage at the drop-off location.
  • Passengers can also do a lot more online from selection of seats, upgrading of cabin class and also print receipts of the flight fare.

Mobile check-in

Passengers also now have the ease and convenience to Check-in for their flight with Alaska Air on their mobile phones. This can either be done by accessing the official Alaska Air website on www.alaskaair.com via a mobile browser OR by downloading the official Alaska Air Mobile App for mobiles and tablets either on the Play Store for Android OR App Store for i-OS.

Check-In via mobile devices can be done anytime between 1 to 24 hours before the flights’ scheduled departure.

Passengers can also choose to check-in at any one of the many Check-In kiosks available at the airport supported by Alaska Aviation System for inspection. However, Check-In at kiosks have two criteria:

  • Passenger with only carry luggage: Passengers with only carry luggage can opt to avail kiosk check-in up to 40 minutes before the flight’s scheduled departure. Passengers at the kiosk can also avail upgrades, modify seat arrangements and print travel receipts at the kiosk itself. After availing the boarding pass passengers can head straight to the boarding gate.
  • Passengers with checked baggage: Passenger with checked baggage with them are required to reach the check-in counter at least 4 hours prior to the flights’ scheduled departure. After getting the boarding pass printed at the kiosk, passengers will be required to enter the baggage check-in location. Also it is advised to passengers to check the timings for the airport ticket counters beforehand.

Passengers travelling with a paper ticket or need any form of assistance can get check-in assistance at the airport from the customer service staff. The staff at the airport will provide passengers with a personal check-in. Also if the passengers have checked bags then their bags will only get accepted within the last 4 hours before the flights scheduled departure.

 

Passengers with checked bags are required to reach the airport to collect their boarding passes and process their baggage no later than the designated cut-off to avoid rebooking on a later flight.

  2. The cities of Atlanta, Denver, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas and Philadelphia have a baggage cut-off of 45 minutes.
  3. Passengers departing from Dillingham and King Salmon are required to be present and process their bags at least 60 minutes before the flights scheduled departure.
  4. The cut-off times may not necessarily ensure that the passenger will be able to reach the departure gate in time for boarding, as heavy passenger rush and busy security lines may require extra time.

Passengers without checked bags

Passengers travelling without any checked bags are also required to reach the airport within the stipulated time with a valid boarding pass with them to avoid rebooking on to a later flight. 

  • INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS: AT LEAST 60 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE FLIGHTS’ SCHEDULED DEPARTURE
  • DOMESTIC FLIGHTS: AT LEAST 40 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE FLIGHTS’ SCHEDULED DEPARTURE

Boarding pass

Passengers can acquire their boarding pass depending on the method of Check-In they use for their flight. Making it easier for fliers to get their own boarding pass at home or acquire it at the airport itself.

  • Web Check-In: Passengers who avail web check-in can do so from 24 hours up to 1 hour prior to the flights scheduled departure, after web check-in is done successfully passengers will be provided their boarding pass which they can print and use at the boarding gate. It is advised for passengers availing this method to print their passes well beforehand to avoid hassle and rush.
  • Mobile Check-In: Passengers who opt for this method of Check-in will be provided an e-Boarding Pass after all necessary procedures are done by the passenger via the mobile app.
  • Kiosk Check-In: Passengers who wish to check-in at the kiosk at the airport can do so after filling in the necessary details at the kiosk itself. After going through the formalities the kiosk will print a boarding pass for the passenger that can be used to board the flight at the boarding gate.
  • Ticket Counter Check-In: Passengers who wish to have manual assistance can opt for Ticket Counter check-in that will guide them all through the way. The ground staff will also print for the passengers a boarding pass after the necessary details have been taken.

Boarding time

For passengers to board the flight at the boarding gate, they must possess with them a valid boarding pass at the gate no later than 30 minutes before the flights scheduled departure. Passengers who report late may be subject to cancellation of their reservation for the flight or the entire booking made with Alaska Airlines.
