Fresno is a significant city in California’s San Joaquin Valley. It is the largest city in the broader Central Valley region and the county headquarters of Fresno County. Fresno was formed in 1872 as a Central Pacific Railroad station before being incorporated in 1885. It was named after the many ash trees that line the San Joaquin River. It has since grown into the economic heart of Fresno County and the San Joaquin Valley, with large-scale agricultural production dominating much of the surrounding territory in the Metropolitan Fresno region.

Baldassare Forestiere, a Sicilian immigrant, began developing these underground gardens in the early 1900s. He handcrafted the patios, grottos, and all of the delicate stonework. Forestiere created a genuinely unique maze of underground halls, corridors, and planters for numerous fruit-bearing trees after 40 years of subterranean toil.
It covers 300 acres and is packed with modern amenities, unusual stops along the road, and plenty of opportunities to take in magnificent scenery.

The National Park is 747,956 acres in size and stretches all the way to the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The location is known around the world for its stunning granite cliffs and beautiful waterfalls. The park has nearly 800 miles of trails, ranging from short easy strolls to multi-day arduous hikes over several park mountains.
The Tower District, located northwest of downtown, is a hotspot for nightlife and cuisine. The historic Tower Theater, which still graces a junction at East Olive Avenue – the district’s major thoroughfare – is the inspiration for this colorful neighborhood.
