Statue of Liberty
The 305-foot Statue of Liberty, which stands on Liberty Island at the entrance to New York Harbor, was a gift from France to the United States to mark the signing of the Declaration of Independence 100 years ago. Since then, Lady Liberty has served as a symbol of democracy and optimism for New York City and the United States.
Central Park
A stroll, bike ride, or carriage ride around Central Park’s crisscrossing pathways is recommended for anybody visiting New York City. In the winter, you can even put on your skates and skate around Wollman Rink. Central Park boasts a myriad of activities in addition to being a great spot to get some exercise. The most well-known tourist attractions include Strawberry Fields, Belvedere Castle, Central Park Zoo, and the Lake.
The external terrace of the skyscraper is the city’s highest public balcony, stretching 65 feet into the sky. The terrace not only offers sweeping views of our city’s skyline, but it also serves as a great vantage point for those below. Brave people can wave to passers-by on a vast, see-through glass floor 1,100 feet below. On the 101st floor, there’s a 10,000-square-foot bar, restaurant, and event space, similar to Rockefeller Center’s Top of the Rock idea.
American Museum of Natural History
The American Museum of Natural History, located on Central Park West, attracts a large number of visitors. You won’t be able to see everything in one day because there are over 32 million objects dispersed throughout four city blocks, 25 buildings, and 45 display spaces. The dinosaurs, the Hall of Universe, the Butterfly Conservatory, and the Rose Center for Earth and Space are all worthwhile visits.
Times Square
The sights in Times Square are unlike anything else you’ll see. Times Square is a popular location for locals and visitors alike, with neon lights flashing, music blasting from trendy clubs and bistros, and a large number of people thronging the Square throughout the year. Certain stores, such as the Disney Store, must be visited. There are a number of restaurants and cafes where you can relax while taking in the view of the night sky.
St. Patrick’s Cathedral
This magnificent church is in the midst of Rockefeller Center’s frenzied activity, which is essentially secular. You can’t help but be impressed by St. Patrick’s, whether you’re a devout Catholic or just visiting for the architecture. Travelers praise the little mediaeval church’s splendour and stained glass windows, but say that seeing it does not require too much time.
