Caribbean Airlines Cancellation policy

Caribbean Airlines cancellation policy regarding Covid 19 Pandemic. Caribbean Airlines is no exception to the distress the COVID 19 brought about. The entire aviation industry including Caribbean Airlines has been hit in the worst way possible. Their passengers are no less harmed by the pandemic and the airline is trying their best to give the best service to them in their own way.

Passengers whose flights got canceled because of the pandemic are given some choice. They are given under:

*Change

-International:

If a passenger booked an international flight before 25 December 2021 for travel dates between 31 March 2020 and 31 December 2021, you can make a change in your booking once for free. That changed ticket will be valid for 1 year from the ticket issuance date.

If you have a flight with a departure date on or after 1 January 2022, normal fare rules will apply regardless of the ticketing date.

 -Domestic:

If a passenger booked a domestic flight before 25 December 2021 for travel dates between 31 March 2020 and 31 December 2021, you can rebook your flight regardless of the ticketing date. Here, standard fare rules will apply.

If you have a flight with a departure date on or after 1 January 2022, normal fare rules will apply regardless of the ticketing date.

 *Credit

If you are given a credit refund upon cancellation, the credit amount will be equal to the worth of your ticket. If it is wholly unused, you will get full credit but if you have a partially used ticket, you will get a credit worth the unused flight segment. The credit will be valid for 1 year from the issuance date. Please be informed that credits are non-refundable in nature.

If you have a flight with a departure date on or after 1 January 2022, normal fare rules on credit will apply regardless of the ticketing date.

CARIBBEAN AIRLINES 24 HOURS FREE CANCELLATION POLICY

Caribbean airlines provide free cancellation for 24 hours within booking regardless of fare rules. It doesn’t matter whether it is a refundable or non-refundable booking, as long as you fall under the free cancellation time frame, you are entitled to cancelation without any charge. Passengers are requested to conform with this time frame if they wish to avoid cancellation fees.

The 24 hours cancellation policy doesn’t apply to travelers who are traveling between Trinidad and Tobago.  

CANCELLATION POLICY IN NORMAL TIMES

If you cancel your flight 24 hours within the booking, there will be a cancellation fee charged to you. If your booking is refundable, the remaining value of the booking will be refunded after deducting the cancellation fee. However, if you have got a non-refundable booking, your ticket value will be forfeited and you will not get a refund. Passenger’s cancellation fee is not only determined by the fare rule/type but is also determined by the date of departure, the number of tickets, points of departure, etc.

PASSENGERS’ INVOLUNTARY CANCELLATION

If a passenger is canceling because of any extenuating circumstances like a death in a family, sickness, any medical issues, judicial order, strikes, government order, etc., there will be no cancellation fee charged to him/her. The passenger only has to give the documents which the airline will ask for as evidence.

DELAYS AND AIRLINE CANCELLATION

If the airline delays or cancels a passenger’s flight for any reason, the airline may charge the passenger’s schedule, and the passenger’s decision to accept it is entirely up to the passenger. They can choose to accept schedule changes or request a refund/credit.
Caribbean Airlines doesn’t allow delays for more than 4 hours until and unless there is some technical issue or air traffic. And even if there is a delay, the airline will do their best to keep their passengers comfortable with food and water. Lavatory and medical facilities will be given in times of need. There will be an update every 30 minutes.

In a case like this, the airline can name some factual situations as the reason for cancellation. For instance, there can be a natural calamity, state emergency, security concerns, operation failure, lack of passengers, issues with the pilots, mechanical error, etc.

NO-SHOW POLICY

If any passenger does not cancel before the departure time, regardless of their fare type, they will be marked as a no-show. No passenger is eligible for a refund if they are marked as a no-show. The value of the ticket will be confiscated and you will not get anything, make sure to cancel before the date and time of departure according to your schedule.

 

CARIBBEAN AIRLINES REFUND POLICY

The airline allows eligible passengers to request a refund in the way it was booked. In other words, if you booked through a third party, a request has to be made to that third party, and if you booked with the airline, the airline will make the refund for you.

The refund amount depends on the type of flight rate, cancellation time and date, etc.  Please be informed that airport and security taxes are refundable to all types of fares. However, service charges are not refundable.  

If there is any refund owed to you by the airline, the latter will make the refund to your account with which you booked. It normally takes 7-10 business days but passengers are requested to be patient with the airline if there is any delay. Due to the pandemic, a large number of passengers canceled and demanded refunds.

CARIBBEAN AIRLINES CANCELLATION STEPS

Passengers can make cancellations in a few ways. You can cancel it by yourself on the airline’s official website or app. You can also contact the airline’s reservations team to cancel the reservation for you, or you can cancel the reservation directly through the third-party with whom you made the reservation.

 If you wish to cancel your booking online or on the app, you can follow these steps:

-First of all, log in

-Skip the login process if you already have the airline account

-You may go to “My Trip”/ “My Booking”

-Select the particular booking which you want to cancel from the available reservations

-Press on cancellation

-Reconfirm the cancellation by clicking “Yes”

-After your trip is canceled, you can claim a refund if you are eligible

If you are eligible for a refund, you will receive the refund within 7 – 10 business days, depending on your payment method and the account used to pay for the flight.

If you are canceling by calling the airline, you need to call XXXXXXXXXXX. The airline’s agent will ask you and you will need to give your confirmation code, first name, and last name to verify your reservation. After verifying, you can ask the agent to cancel certain flights for you. And while you are doing so, you may request the agent to check if your ticket is eligible for a refund. You can also ask them any doubts and queries you have related to your reservation.
