Volaris Airlines cancellation policy

Volaris Airlines Cancellation policy allows passengers to make changes with no fee at all or with very less penalty considering that COVID 19 has prevented many from traveling.

Sadly, and unfortunately, the airline is also facing a serious loss because of the pandemic, and therefore, no free cancellation is given so far. If there is any update on it, we will let you know. Volaris airlines Cancellation policy at the moment applies only to those passengers who are traveling to/from the United States.


Volaris airlines offer 24 hours free cancellation time after booking to passengers provided that it is 7 days or more before departure. In this case, there will be a refund made to you regardless of your fare type i.e., refundable or non-refundable. This policy applies to only those passengers who are traveling to/from the United States.

If your scheduled flight is taking off within 24 hours of booking, you can make a cancellation and refund request 3 hours or more before departure to the airline.


For passengers who are traveling to/from the United States, if you cancel after 24 hours after booking, there will be a cancellation penalty charged to you. And if your booking is of refundable type, your remaining value of the booking will be refunded to you after deducting the cancellation fee.

However, in case your reserving is of non-refundable type, your price of the reserving may be forfeited and also you shall now no longer get a refund. Passenger’s cancellation fee is not only determined by the fare rule/type but is also determined by the date of departure, points of departure, etc.


If an airline delays or cancels a passenger’s flight for whatever reason, the airline may offer the passenger a schedule modification, which the passenger may accept or reject.
They have the option of accepting the scheduling adjustment or requesting a credit instead.
The credit will be for your base fare, any service you bought and you should make your next booking in the upcoming 180 days for any travel date within 12 months from the issuance date.

In a case like this, the airline can name some factual situations as the reason for cancellation. For instance, there can be a natural calamity, state emergency, security concerns, operation failure, lack of passengers, issues with the pilots, mechanical error, etc.


If a passenger is canceling because of any extenuating circumstances like a death in a family, sickness, any medical issues, judicial order, strikes, government order, etc., there may not be any cancellation fee charged to him/her. Passengers only need to provide the documents required by the airline as proof.


Passengers would be charged a cancellation fee of 100 USD to 400 USD if the cancellation is done 24 hours from the scheduled departure time of your flight.

If you make your cancellation 24 hours after the booking, there will be a cancellation fee of 100 USD to 500 USD.


Any passenger who fails to cancel before the scheduled departure time, regardless of fare class, will be considered a no-show.
If a passenger is designated as a no-show, they are not eligible for reimbursement.
The entire value of the ticket will be forfeited, and you will receive nothing, so please cancel it before your scheduled departure date and time, as determined by your price type.


 Passengers can cancel their flights in various ways.

Firstly, you can cancel your booking by yourself on the airline’s official website

Secondly, you can cancel your booking by yourself on the airline’s official app

Thirdly, you can contact the airline’s reservation team to cancel it for you

Fourthly, you can cancel it through a third party with whom you booked your reservation.

If a passenger wants to cancel online or on the app, we suggest you follow these steps:

-First of all, log in

-Ignore the login process if you already have the airline account

-Click on “My Trip”/ “My Booking”

-From the available flights, select the booking you want to cancel.

-Press on cancellation

-You can confirm the cancellation of your booking from the pop–up message by clicking “Yes”

-After your trip is canceled, you can claim a refund if you are eligible

If you are eligible for a refund, you will receive the refund within 7 to 10 business days, depending on your payment method and the account used to pay for the flight.

If you want to cancel your reservation by phone, dial  8558652747. You will be asked by the airline’s agent for your confirmation code, first name, and last name to verify your reservation. After that, you can tell the reservation team’s agent to cancel certain bookings for you. And while you are at it, you can tell the agent to see if your ticket is eligible for a refund. You can ask them any questions or concerns you have about your ticket.


Volaris doesn’t usually allow the cancellation of flights with a refund. However, if there is any cancellation and refund being made, it shall be done so in all segments of your itinerary. For example, if you have a round trip the cancellation and refund should be made to your whole round trip. No change, cancellation, and refund can be made just for a segment or one way of the booking

If you have already checked in online or at the airport, you may still be able to cancel it but there shall be no refund for it.

However, as stated above, the airline allows passengers to sell their tickets by allowing full name change. In this way, you can take back the amount you have paid for your flight even if there is no direct refund from the airline.

If at all you are owed a refund by the airline, you would get it in a few business days upon canceling. And the amount to be refunded to you would be refunded to your account with which you paid for your reservation. If that doesn’t work for any reason, you would be asked to provide an alternative account.
