Changes are inevitable, and we understand that often times than not, reasons beyond our own
control tends to creep on our travel plans leaving us sad, frustrated, and confused.
We also understand that changes to travels need not necessarily be a tough uncomfortable process, so here
is a compilation of some important pointers passengers can keep handy while cancelling or changing
their flights with Hawaiian Airlines.
Terms for Cancellation
Cancellations may be initiated by either the passenger themselves OR by the airlines OR due to
factors outside the control of both.
Cancellation of tickets may also arise in if the airlines need to
comply with any Government Law, unforeseen emergency or bad weather.
If for some reason the Hawaiian Airlines Booking made by passengers through a third party agent does not reach
the airlines on time due to need of an advance purchase requirement. Flights for such passengers
who fail to comply may result in the termination of their flight.
Flights will also stand canceled for passengers who fail to board the flights marked by Hawaiian
Airlines or any prior connecting carrier that cancels reservations on the basis of failure to board flight.
Hawaiian Airlines may also cancel or refuse travel to passengers if they are unable to buy tickets OR
check-in OR be present at the gate at the scheduled/stipulated time.
Ticketing Time Limit
-Passengers are required to make reservations and purchase their tickets at least 120 minutes
OR 2 Hours prior to the scheduled time of departure.
-Passengers are required to obtain their boarding passes for the flight in no less then
45 minutes for travel between Continental US and Hawaii
30 minutes for travel within Hawaii
-Checking-in of baggage may take time due to security screening. Passengers are therefore
requested to check-in their baggage at least:
3 hours beforehand for passengers flying from or to Pago Pago International
2.5 hours in advance for passenger flying from Hawaii to Continental US
90 minutes for trips to be made wholly within the state of Hawaii
-The passengers are also requested to be present at the boarding gate 30 minutes before
hand, even after checking in for their flight.
-The airlines have the right to proceed to close the door of the aircraft 10 minutes before the
Failure to comply by the guidelines may result in cancellation of reservation for passengers.
Refund Policy for Voluntary Reservations
For passengers with refundable tickets, Hawaiian Airlines shall initiate a refund for parts/portions of
the unused tickets under the following conditions:
-Tickets issued exclusively by Hawaiian Airlines on Hawaiian Ticket Stock
-The amount refunded to the passenger shall be equal to the value of the unused portion of
the ticket, in case of wholly unused tickets the value of the total fare and all applied charges
to the ticket shall be refunded
-Tickets have to be taken up for refund 12 months from the date of issue of ticket
-Service charges will not be charged for passengers who either opt travel credit (valid for up
to one year from the date of issue) OR otherwise stated so within the Terms & Conditions of
-Refund of tickets, if not stated for a full refund in the Terms & Conditions, shall incur a Service
Fee amounting to:
$25 if the ticket to be refunded was intended for travel wholly in Hawaii
$100 if the ticket to be refunded was intended for travel wholly within
$100 if the ticket to be refunded was intended for travel between Hawaii
and Continental US
-Refunds will be by default made to the purchaser of the tickets, with exceptions only for:
Refund towards the person whose account was charged for purchase of
Refund towards the Govt. agency that made for a transportation request
Refund towards the person whose credit card was charged for purchase
-Refunds will also be provided in-terms of fare difference whose Seat Class gets downgraded
For all refunds, eligible transfers shall be made within 7 business days for passengers making
payments through Credit Card and up to 20 days for payments made through cheques, cash or other
mode of payments accepted by Hawaiian Airlines.
Refunds will be made by Hawaiian Airlines in cases where either the passenger refuses or airlines
refuses travel in accordance with policies laid down for children and infants (RULE 12), refusal of
transport based on reason stated in RULE 13 OR based on flight delays, changes and cancellation
expressed in RULE 21
The Airlines shall also refund the passenger if they wish to surrender unused portions of the availed
flight ticket OR due to circumstances apart from their own.
In case of wholly unused tickets under circumstances of involuntary refunds, the entire amount and
charges levied on the ticket shall be refunded
In cases of partially used tickets under circumstances of involuntary refunds, the value amount of the
unused portion of the ticket with the charges levied shall be refunded.
Important points you need to know For your reservation
-Tickets issued for a passenger are not transferable
-Tickets are non-refundable, unless specifically expressed so during the time of booking
-For both completely unused tickets and partially unused tickets, trips for transport are
eligible for up to one year from the date of purchase
-Flights coupons issued by the Airlines will be honoured in order
-While making changes to flight dates OR rerouting OR changing of cabins any difference is
fare above $0 shall be charged from the customer. However, no refunds will be made if the
value of the subsequent change in flight is lesser than the original fare
-If passengers purchase a separate ticket with another airlines or of Hawaiian Airlines that
has scheduled departure sooner than the allowed Minimum Connection Time than the
baggage cannot be guaranteed to be made available at the final destination.
-Rules and Fares of Hawaiian Airlines are subject to change and can be modified without any
