ALITALIA AIRLINE CANCELLATION POLICY RELATED TO COVID 19 PANDEMIC

Alitalia Airlines has been so generous to its passengers considering the fact that COVID 19 pandemic has prevented us from taking flights. They have allowed passengers to make changes and cancel with no fee at all or with very less penalty.

Passengers who have flights that have been canceled or delayed for at least 5 hours are given the facility to change their booking date to 7 days earlier or later than the previously booked departure date for free.

You can make these changes within 1 year from the canceled flight.

If you just canceled it and didn’t book a new date or didn’t take the airline scheduled date, you may be given a voucher equal to the amount you paid for your booking. A voucher amount equal to the remaining value if you partially used a ticket will be given. This voucher will bear your name but you can use it to book it for another third party.

This voucher concept will apply only to flights that were scheduled from 11 March 2020 to 31 October 2020 and were canceled within 31 August 2020.  And please be informed that the voucher will be valid for 18 months from the issuance date. You can apply for a voucher till 31 December 2020.

If you didn’t use the voucher in 18 months, you will be given a refund, full or partial according to your reservation.

The same voucher concept will be applied for flights booked by September 30, 2021, ie, for departures from November 1 2020 to December 31, 2021. But here, you can apply for a voucher until 30 September 2021.

If you are applying for a refund you have to do it before the departure date.  And if you booked your reservation from Alitalia sales channels, you will be able to request a refund from a link you get on your cancellation email. However, if you booked it with a travel agency or a third party, you need to contact them to make the request.

Considering the COVID 19 pandemic, if passengers don’t want to or can’t travel on the scheduled date, passengers can change or cancel their booking.

If a passenger

-booked a reservation by 30 April 2020 for travel dates between 1 October 2020 and 30 April 2021
