Air France Cancellation Policy

AIR FRANCE CANCELLATION POLICY REGARDING COVID 19 PANDEMIC

With every passenger being compelled to change or cancel their flights, Air France is doing their best to accommodate passengers’ demands.

Trying to solve the situation in the interest of both the parties that is the airline itself and the passengers.

Few options are made available for passengers related to the pandemic. They are:

Firstly, you can ask for a credit/voucher upon cancelling depending on the AirFrance Cancellation policy. The credit which you get will be worth 15% more than your actual fare. You can use this credit in your future booking.

Additionally, if your new booking is higher in fare than the original one, the airline will give you 15% of the voucher amount so that you can make up the fare difference.

And if the newly booked flight is cheaper than the original one, you will still have the remainder voucher value in your account.

The additional voucher amount added during the first time use of the voucher is an exception. There is no addition of value to the remaining residual value.

And the addition of value is made only if the new flight is issued before 31 October 2020 for departure dates before 15 June 2021.

Also, please be informed that the voucher will be valid only till 31 December 2021.

Secondly, a passenger is allowed to change their date of departure and routes in the same class without paying any additional price.

Thirdly, passengers are allowed to seek a refund in the form of cash. For a cash refund, there will be no extra value given to the passenger.

AIR FRANCE 24 HOURS FREE CANCELLATION POLICY

Regardless of fare limitations, Air France offers free cancellation within 24 hours of booking.
It makes no difference whether the booking is refundable or non-refundable; as long as you are inside the free cancellation period, you are entitled to free cancellation. If you want to avoid unnecessary cancellation fees and save some amount, we suggest you follow this time frame.

AIR FRANCE CANCELLATION POLICY IN NORMAL TIMES

If you cancel after 24 hours of your reservation, you will be charged a cancellation fee. If your reservation is refundable, the balance of your reservation will be reimbursed to you after the cancellation charge has been deducted.

However, if you have a booking that is non-refundable in nature, the value of the ticket will be forfeited and you will not get a refund.

The cancellation cost for passengers is decided not only by the fare rule/type, but also by the date of departure, the number of tickets, the places of departure, and other factors.

Passengers who booked a reservation 2 days before departure and who cancelled the same will be charged a penalty between $45 and $125.

Additionally, passengers who have an award ticket shall not get a refund when cancelled since it is a non-refundable reservation.

AIR FRANCE PASSENGER INVOLUNTARY CANCELLATION

There will be no cancellation fee levied to a passenger who cancels due to mitigating circumstances such as a death in the family, sickness, any medical concerns, judicial order, strikes, government order, etc.
The passenger must just present the documentation that the airline will want as proof.

AIR FRANCE DELAY AND AIRLINE CANCELLATION POLICY

If an airline delays or cancels a passenger’s flight for whatever reason, the airline may offer the passenger a schedule modification, which the passenger may accept or reject.

They have the option of accepting the schedule adjustment made by the airline for them or requesting a refund or credit instead.

If a passenger’s flight is delayed for more than 3 hours, he/she will be applicable for a full refund. If a passenger requests a refund, the passenger will get a full refund within 7 business days.
If a traveller agrees to a schedule adjustment and there is a long connection flight, the airline will pay for the hotel and airport transportation.

In a case like this, the airline can name some factual situations as the reason for cancellation. There could be a natural disaster, a state of emergency, security concerns, an operation failure, a lack of passengers, pilot troubles, a mechanical error, and so on.

CANCELLATION FEE

Air France cancellation fee will depend on your fare type, time and date of departure, number of tickets, etc. However, the general amount is 45 Euros.

Passengers who booked a reservation 2 days before departure and who cancelled the same will be charged a penalty between $45 and $125.

NO-SHOW POLICY

If any passenger fails to cancel before the departure time regardless of the fare type, they will be marked as a no-show. If any passenger is designated as a no-show, they will not be eligible for a refund. The whole value of the ticket will be forfeited, and you will receive nothing, so please cancel it before your scheduled departure date and time.

REFUND POLICY

Air France allows eligible travellers to obtain a refund in the manner in which they booked their flight. To put it another way, if you booked through a third party, you must make a request to that third party, however, if you bought directly with the airline, the airline will handle the refund.
The amount of the refund is determined by the fare type, cancellation time and date, and other factors.
Airport and security fees are refundable on all fares.
Service fees, on the other hand, cannot be refunded.
If the airline owes you a refund, it will credit your account. It usually only takes a few business days, however, travellers are asked to bear with the airline if there is a delay. Because of the epidemic, several travellers have cancelled their flights and requested refunds.
