Places to visit in Dallas Downtown

If you only have a few days in Big D, you will have the opportunity to see some of the best that Texas has to offer. All you have to do now is hunt for inexpensive flights to Dallas to begin your Texas-size experience, which includes wonderful food, great art, fabulous shopping, and cowboys of all kinds and sizes.

While Dallas isn’t a 24-hour city due to the abundance of things to see and do, crafting a memorable experience in just 48 hours is an interesting task. Here’s your two-day itinerary for the best shopping, sightseeing, outdoor adventure, sports, and culture in Dallas.

Day 1 Morning Sightseeing in Downtown

Hotels in Downtown Dallas | The Kimpton Pittman Hotel

Downtown Dallas is a tight area bordered by many freeways that forms the city’s centre pocket. Because parking in this neighbourhood can be difficult, locating a pay lot is usually the best option. In reality, the Dallas Museum of Art has one, and due of its central location, most of the important attractions can be reached on foot once you’ve parked. Destinations that should be included on your walking tour of the city include:

Dallas Museum of Art

Dior: From Paris to the World | Dallas Museum of Art

The museum was not only free, but it also housed one of the world’s most unusual collections. An exact copy of Coco Chanel’s southern France villa was included in the Chanel to Reves: La Pausa and Its Collection. After the designer’s death, the Reves bought the villa. The designer’s villa was decorated with original furnishings, literature, décor, and Impressionism/Post-Impressionism art, which may be seen here.

Pioneer Plaza

Pioneer Plaza

Pioneer Plaza is a huge public park in downtown Dallas, Texas’ Convention Center District (USA). It has a big sculpture and is a popular tourist destination. The Confederate War Memorial is located next to the plaza of Pioneer Park Cemetery. It is the largest public open space in the Dallas central business district when taken together.

Klyde Warren Park

Klyde Warren Park is a 5.2-acre park built over the Woodall Rodgers Freeway, which is recessed. When you’re in Dallas, Texas, check out the park’s activities, which include everything from book signings to concerts to outdoor movies. People may always be seen lounging in the park, soaking in the rays and devouring delectable snacks from the food trucks. The park is located in the heart of the city and is well-connected with free WiFi.

Big Tex

Big Tex Preaches Ebola Precautions – CBS Dallas / Fort Worth

Big Tex is a 55-foot (17-meter) tall marketing emblem for the annual State Fair of Texas, which is hosted at Fair Park in Dallas. Dallas and Texas have adopted him as a cultural icon. Big Tex has served as a cultural ambassador to visitors since 1952, and the figure’s prominent location on the fairgrounds acts as a traditional gathering spot.

Giant Eyeball

Ocular Horror: A Giant Eye is Watching Over Dallas - Atlas Obscura

A work of mind-bending horror with an unblinking stare Or, more precisely, a 30-foot-tall fiberglass-based eyeball that arrived in the Texas city to add some surrealist flair to the cityscape.

Afternoon:

Dealey Plaza and the Sixth Floor Museum

Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza Admission 2021 - Dallas

Dealey Plaza’s Sixth Floor Museum. For those who are unfamiliar, Dealey Plaza was the site of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination in 1963. The Sixth Floor Museum is located exactly where assassin Lee Harvey Oswald stood to fire the fatal shot. This museum has a fantastic collection. In order to set the scenario for JFK’s assassination, visitors are given an understanding of the geopolitical concerns that were at play throughout his presidency. After that, you’ll be taken through an almost minute-by-minute sequence of events leading up to the assassination on November 22nd.

The display goes to a window that looks out over Dealey Plaza, where the assassin stood. It has been preserved in its original state so that visitors can see the gun used on that fatal day. It’s pretty moving, especially when you see microfilm capturing a second-by-second breakdown of the shot, as well as Jackie Kennedy’s blood-stained clothing. The museum brought to mind what a chaotic and significant period in American history the 1960s were.

Evening:

Deep Ellum for Dinner and Nightlife

Deep Ellum Entertainment District | Art&Seek | Arts, Music, Culture for North Texas

Deep Ellum is one of Dallas’ hottest neighbourhoods right now. Deep Ellum, located directly east of downtown Dallas, is a vibrant neighbourhood with vibrant street art, outstanding martini bars, brewpubs, and art galleries. Deep Ellum is a renowned entertainment and nightlife district in Dallas, and it’s a terrific place to end your first day here. Start with some pre-dinner drinks at HIDE, a high-end cocktail bar that has recently received a slew of awards for its inventive and well-crafted cocktails.

After that, go a few blocks over to Pecan Lodge for some of Dallas’ best barbecue. There will inevitably be a queue, but the 30 minute to 2 hour wait (earlier is preferable!) is well worth it. Pecan Lodge’s renowned beef rib is well-known for its brisket and sausage, but the actual star of the show is the brisket and sausage. Make sure to save room in your dessert stomach for a bowl of the comforting and delectable banana pudding. Finish the night in one of the neighborhood’s beer or cocktail bars, many of which have live music on weekends. Beer fans will enjoy Braindead Brewing, Deep Ellum Brewing Co, and Angry Dog, while cocktail drinkers will enjoy Armoury D.E.

Day 2 Morning:

Wake up and eat breakfast at The Heights, a quiet Lakewood neighborhood café, where you can linger over your cortado cooked with Full City Rooster beans and delicious eggs and rosemary potato hash.
