SATA air acores and acts as the regional wings to connect the islands of Portugal with Europe and North America from its base at Joao Paulo II airport,
Azores, Portugal.

HISTORY OF AZORES AIRLINES

Azores Airlines first came into function as OceanAir in 1994. In 1994 SATA Air Acorn became its sole owner, when 0ceanAir suspended their service.
On february 20, 1998 Azores Airlines was finally re-launched as SATA internacional and resumed its services on 8 April, 1998 becoming a whole subsidiary Group of SATA.
In January 2015, the airline was renamed as Azores Airlines.

AZORES AIRLINES PROTOCOLS AND SAFETY MEASURES

With the Scenario of the current ongoing Covid 19 pandemic, the airlines have issued new rules for the safety and health of the passengers which include
the following :
Use of face masks, hand sanitizers and checking of temperature is mandatory for all passengers accessing in and out the airports. Passengers are requested
to maintain social distancing and follow the display signs carefully. The staff are also fully equipped with face masks and hand gloves.
2. Check-In
Documents are to be presented and should be handled personally. Remove your mask only when requested. Make sure to limit your baggage to the weight
which can be handled by you.
3. Security Checks
In order to reduce the risk of exposure to the SARS-CoV-2, transit through the aircrafts has been reassessed so there may be some delays in between.
Cooperate with the instructions issued by the security officers. Extra hygienic care has been done to the boxes that will be used by passengers to place
your belongings during the security checks.
4. Boarding/Deboarding
Boarding gates, arrival gates and all common areas are disinfected regularly. Social distancing is assured to be maintained even while boarding and
disembarking.
Priority is given to passengers with no baggage while boarding. In case of any health issue which prevents passengers from wearing a mask, they will
be allowed to board as long as they wear a protective visor and carry a valid medical certificate from a doctor throughout their entire trip. The medical
certificate form will be issued by the sales offices of the airlines.
In case of no mask or visor, passengers will be prohibited from boarding. Passengers are requested to use mask that is only approved by the World
Health Organisation (WHO) that ensures the safety of the user and the people around, namely
Disposable face masks
Surgical masks and
Social masks.
To minimize the risk of exposure or contagion, the following measures have been taken by the Aircraft on board :
1. Reinforced cleaning and disinfection
The Aircraft is thoroughly disinfected and sanitised after each flight, following the protocols issued by the World Health Organisation. The crew members are qualified to take all measures in the event of any outbreak or symptomatic case detection on board.
2.Air Quality in Aircraft
A vertical air recycling system that ensures the air is recycled and refreshed throughout the aircraft is installed. This limits the mixing of air in the cabin
and allows the renewal of air continuously after every 2-3 minutes i.e more than 20 times per hour.

AZORES AIRLINES BAGGAGE

Keeping priority to the safety of passengers, in order to avoid contacts with fellow passengers and cabin crew, a maximum limit of cabin baggage that
can be carried to the Aircraft has been set. All carry-on baggage must be revealed for proper labelling in the counter

All personal items like documents, mobile phones, money, checks, cards, medecine, jewelleries are suggested to be carried in the hand baggage
Musical instruments as long as they fit into the standardised dimensions.

AZORES AIRLINES CHILD POLICY

If you are planning to travel with your family the airlines can give you specific options
1. For infants between 2 to 7 years
Passengers can choose to do the following
Buy a seat : Purchase a ticket with child fare to be placed in an approved or arranged seatings
Carry the infant : Passengers are allowed to carry the infant in your laps throughout the journey. The parent and child will be seated far away from the
emergency exit and a supplementary oxygen mask will be provided.
2. For children above 7 years
Passengers should book a full ticket for children above 7 years and the person accompanying your children should be able to take responsibility for the
entire trip starting from check-ins at the airport to deboarding the flight.
3. For children without company
Children from 5 to 11 years travelling without company will be assisted by the airlines starting from the check-in till the destination. This service is
mandatory for unaccompanied minors or when the adult is unable to take care of the minor due to some circumstances. However, passengers are
advised to inform the airlines 48 hours before the departure.
Guardians are asked to fill in and sign the Assistance Notice form before coming to the airport where it should be shown in the check-in by the
guardian itself. The information of the adult responsible for the minor at the destination should be submitted to the airlines. This form should be
with the minor throughout the journey.

An extra charge may be levied based on the protocols of different flights.
4. For unaccompanied minor choosing not to use the assistance of the company,
The guardians are requested to double check the following things :
Make sure to confirm the dates, flight times, itineraries, etc when receiving the ticket
Inform the children to approach the SATA Azores Airlines help center at the airport in case of any confusion and strictly warn them not to leave the
airport premises with an unknown person
A valid phone number of the parent or legal guardian should be submitted
Necessary documents and a copy of printed ticket of the minor should be carried throughout the trip.
Also in case of any discomfort due to different issues like health, seating, etc guardian should advise the children to inform their concerns to any of
the crew members.

AZORES AIRLINES ANIMAL POLICY

Animals are allowed to accompany the passengers as long as a ticket is booked for the animal and information of the type of animal, dimensions
of the container and total weight of both the animal and containers is given. However the animal policy of the airlines is subjected to
Space of the aircraft
Pet prohibition rules of the destination
Class of the traveller
Make sure the container you bring to the airport is the one you mentioned while booking the tickets.
The maximum container dimensions permitted by Azores Airlines are
55cm (length) x 40cm (width) x 20cm (height)
The pet should be kept inside the container during the entire journey
Female Pets during pregnancy and breastfeeding periods are prohibited from travelling.

AZORES AIRLINES CANCELLATION POLICY

In the event of cancellation of tickets, passengers are advised to be informed about their various rules that includes :
1. 24 hours Cancellation policy
Passengers can cancel their tickets within 24 hours from their bookings and they can avail full refund if the booking was done a week or earlier
from the departure date. In case the ticket was purchased less than a week from the departure of the flight, passengers may be asked to pay a
small compensation charge to the airlines. The airlines does not entertain refund after the expiry date of the ticket.The refund process may take
7 to 10 working days and will be refunded to the original mode of payment.
2. Compensation and Assistance
If the ticket is cancelled by the Azores Airlines, you will be refunded or compensated in the following ways
A choice between reimbursement within 7 days or rescheduling your ticket at the earliest or at your convenient choice, provided to the availability of
tickets during that time.
The airlines also offer free meals during waiting time and access to two phone calls, fax or emails
Hotel accommodations and transport from the airport till the hotel is provided in the case of re-routing and overnight stay becomes a necessity.

ADVANTAGES OF FLYING WITH AZORES AIRLINES

Azores Airlines gives you the advantage of earning miles if you have a membership ticket. Award tickets can also be bought using paypal, credit cards or ATM reference. Tickets purchased using the ATM reference earn you extra 400 miles bonus per ticket.
Miles can be purchased(1 block of miles = 35), transferred from one member to another (1 block of miles = €20)
There are 3 tiers in the membership program
Bluesky, Silversky, Goldensky.
Each tier has similar benefits except in the bonus miles which offers 20% for Silversky and 30% for Goldensky. However Miles are valid only for 3 years for all.
